Good afternoon! Time for the introduction of another character from Hope’s Shadow.
Esperanza of Demos, also known as the Hope of Demos, was a powerful sorceress and a mighty warrior. She was also the chosen champion of Celene, the goddess of the Moon. Celene granted Esperanza the celestial sword known as Elpida, a powerful magical weapon that could banish shadows with its light.
Esperanza was raised to become a hero, and for many years, a hero she was. Rumors of her heroism and might spread through the Fiesperan Empire (Demos is one of the northern regions of Fiespera).
Though Esperanza was beloved by many in Fiespera, perhaps none loved her so much as Robin, a knight who had squired with her under the command of the Knight Commander Airk. Their romance was a thing of legends.
Esperanza was twenty-one when tragedy struck. The Moon vanished and was thought to be dead. Then the Morning Star fell from the heavens. Esperanza was sent to defeat him as he began destroying the region of Rowan, seemingly hellbent on making his way to Demos. Her first attempt to slay the Morning Star nearly killed her. But at last, she managed to capture him. But then the Evening Star fell from the heavens…
Esperanza was found dead–murdered–in the wake of the Evening Star’s fall. Ten years have passed since her death at the start of Hope’s Shadow, and in that time, the Empire of Fiespera has fallen to death and shadows as the Solarian Order, who worship the god of the Sun, have begun purification rituals to purify the land of evil and corruption caused by the fall of the Morning and Evening Stars…by burning people alive at the stake.
And behind the actions of the Solarian Order, something else far more dangerous stirs.
